France: Macron's Gamble

French President Emmanuel Macron is facing an uphill battle in his bid to win the 2024 European Parliament election, with opinion polls suggesting that the far-right National Rally (RN) is leading the race.

Macron's centrist party, La République En Marche (LREM), is currently trailing the RN in most polls, with the left-wing coalition NUPES also gaining ground.

Polls: Not in Macron's Favor

Recent polls by the Euronews Polls Centre show the RN leading with 25% of the vote, followed by the NUPES with 22% and LREM with 20%. The center-right Republicans are polling at 10%, with the Greens at 9% and the far-left France Unbowed at 6%.

These polls indicate that Macron's gamble of betting everything on this election could backfire, as the far-right and left-wing are gaining momentum.
