Major Airlines Grounded Due to Microsoft Outage

Flights Halted Across the United States

Several major US airlines were forced to ground their flights on Friday morning due to a major outage in Microsoft networks. The outage, which began at approximately 8:00 AM Eastern Time, affected a wide range of Microsoft services, including Azure, Teams, and Outlook.

Frontier Airlines Heavily Impacted

Frontier Airlines, a budget carrier based in Denver, Colorado, was particularly hard hit by the outage. The airline was forced to ground all of its flights for over two hours, resulting in the cancellation of 147 flights and the delay of 212 others. Allegiant Air, another budget carrier, also experienced significant delays, with 45 of its flights being delayed.

The outage also affected other major airlines, including Delta, United, and American Airlines. However, these airlines were able to resume flights more quickly than Frontier. As of 10:00 AM Eastern Time, all three airlines were reporting that their operations were returning to normal.

Microsoft said that the outage was caused by a "network issue" that affected its data centers in the central United States. The company said that it had identified the issue and was working to resolve it. As of 10:00 AM Eastern Time, Microsoft said that the outage had been resolved.
